Awards and recognition

As a leading European medical institute in the field of reproductive medicine, IVI has received many awards for its scientific research. This acknowledges the ongoing efforts made by Fundación IVI to develop solutions for couples who are unable to conceive using natural methods.

Awards in 2008

  • American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Prize Paper Award 2008 for a paper entitled “The impact of luteinizing hormona supplementation in gonadotropin releasing hormona antagonist cycles an age adjusted randomized trail”.
  • 2nd prize for best poster.. SEF Congress, May 2008, for the work “Relationship between FISH diagnosis in sperm and the study of meiosis in testicular tissue”. Esbert M., Vidal F., Pomerol JM., Egozcue S., Florensa M., Sanchez I., Castillón G., Ballesteros A., Calderón G. Oviedo (Spain).

  • Serono Prize 2007: Quality, innovation and image in assisted reproduction. Significant data in the assisted reproduction treatment”. Villasante, A; Perllicer A; Garcia JA; Pacheco A. for the paper “Implication of vascular endothelial cadherin for regulation of vascular permeability and its relation to Ovarian Hyperstimulation syndrome”.

Awards in 2006

  • The Research Foundation of the Hospital Clinico Universitario in Valencia awards its Prize for Clinical Research to the scientist Carlos Simón.

  • Valencia City Council awards IVI its Gold Medal of the City (July).
  • The Valencia College of Medicine awards Doctor Pellicer its Gold Medal (June).
  • 26th National Congress of SEF, 3rd International Meeting. Prize for Best Nursing Paper. Cristóbal C; Pizarro F. “A pregnancy next door”.

Awards in 2005

  • NOVA Award for IVI’s company development (December).
  • Ausias March Prize for Science awarded to IVI by the Friends of the Royal Academy of Culture of Valencia (RACV).
  • Award from the Valencia Region Diabetes Association 2005.
  • American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Second Prize 2005 for the poster entitled “Plasma levels of soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (sVEGFR-1) play a key role in the onset of early (E-) and late (L-) ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

Awards in 2004

  • Fundación Salud Award 2000 , in its 2004 edition, to Doctors Ana Cerveró Sanz, Francisco Domínguez and José A. Horcajadas of Foundation IVI, in the field of Clinical Research into Infertility, for their Project entitled “Function of the Leptin Receptor in embryo implantation. Clinical implications for obesity and infertility”.
  • First Viagra Prize for best oral paper at the 12th National Meeting of the Uro-Andrological Group of the Spanish Urology Association, “Molecular Markers of Male Fertility”.
  • King Jaime I Prize for Clinical Medicine to Prof. Antonio Pellicer, Co-director of IVI, Valencian Institute of Infertility (Valencia, 2004).
    Special Doctorate Prize from the University of Valencia for Dr. José Bellver for his thesis “The application of computerized cardiotocography to childbirth” (Valencia, 2004).
  • Research Prize 2004 of the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF) for the paper entitled: “Molecular markers of sperm fertility and their relation to basic semen analysis” (A Coruña, 2004).
  • Second Prize in the Bioemprenda 2004 Competition of Ideas for Business, , awarded to Carlos Simón, Claudia Serrano and Amparo Galán, leaders of the “Star Cell” project, given by the Valencian Government Department for Trade, Industry and Tourism and the Confederation of Business Organisations of the Valencia Region (CIERVAL).
  • Bioquímica-Academia III Milenio 2004 Prize, for Carlos Simón and his research team in recognition of his excellent contribution to the field of regenerative medicine and the excellent results obtained in “First stem cell lines in Spain”, given by M.I. Academia Mundial de Ciencias, Tecnología, Educación y Humanidades, C.T.E.H.

Awards in 2003

  • Prize for “Best Global Website" to www.ivi.es, in the 4th Tabarca Website Competition of the University of Alicante.
  • Award for best original article published in the Revista Iberoamericana de Fertilidad to authors Marcos Meseguer, J Antonio Martínez-Conejero, José Remohí, John D Aplin, Antonio Pellicer and Carlos Simón for their work “TGF-ß1 regulates MUC1 human endometrial mucin in vitro during embryo implantation”.
  • Master of Popularity awarded by popular vote to IVI Seville (Seville, 2003).
  • Golden Laurel awarded by popular vote to IVI Mexico (Mexico, 2003).
